World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have lost their battle. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day, held for the first time in 1988.
It is estimated that currently only 51% of people with HIV know their status. Sub-Saharan Africa is the most affected region with 25.8 million people living with HIV in 2014.
We are all part of the solution. Join us in harnessing the power of social change and help people Move Forward. Remember to wear your red ribbons with pride and help raise awareness for the fight against HIV and AIDS.
Here’s what you can do to help:
- Prioritze your health and take an HIV test to know your status
- Help educate and support a local HIV/Aids organization
- Donate to an HIV/Aids organisation.
Be part of the worldwide conversation online using #WorldAidsDay.
