The National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, South Africa is almost here. Join thousands of art lovers in the sleepy town known as the City of Saints. The 2016 National Arts Festival will run from Thursday 30 June to Sunday 10 July 2016.  Get your tickets for a front row seat to innovation, experimentation, reflection and celebration. Some of the world’s most remarkable jazz innovators from 12 different countries will feature at this year’s Standard Bank Jazz Festival, which runs as part of the National Arts Festival.

The line-up brings the very best of local and international talent from 12 countries around the world.

If you are into young, fresh talent, Siya Makuzeni, the Standard Bank Young Artist Winner for Jazz 2016 will lead an ensemble of young South African musicians in an exhilarating performance.  Past Standard Bank Young Artist winners Bokani Dyer and vocalist Sakhile Moleshe (the voice behind Goldfish) will be gracing us with their presence in a collaborative contemporary project called the Soul Housing Project.

The international line-up will be as diverse as it is interesting. The line-up includes, but is not limited to:

  • Grammy Award winners Trio Corrente (Brazil)
  • Saxophonist Petter Wettre (Norway)
  • Austrian singer, composer and trumpeter Michaela Rabitsch (Austria) and her partner, guitarist Robert Pawlick;
  • Dutch saxophonist Toon Roos
