Our new OR Tambo lounges cut the stress out at dom...

_DSC6894.jpgOur all-new lounge has opened its doors to domestic travellers at OR Tambo – with two more lounges set to open in mid-December 2016, just in time for the festive season.

These customer-centric developments are the result of months of customer engagement and research into traveller needs at OR Tambo. In line with international trends, we found out that there are three types of traveller: Those who arrive just a few minutes before their flight is called; those who spend the international average of 90 minutes waiting for their flight with some time to fill; and those who spend up to three hours in the airport as they prefer to relax and not to be rushed.

In an effort to meet the needs of our customers at every stage of their life’s journey and their expectations of what an airport lounge should be, we developed lounges in the airport’s domestic departures area for each of the three distinct types of traveller, as well as for each tier of Standard Bank customer (from personal banking to Wealth and Investment), bringing options to around 5 600 customers who visit the airport every month:

  1. CaféBlue: Open to all Wealth and Investment, Signature Banking, Family Banking, Private Banking and Professional Banking customers, this lounge, which is already operating, is an option for customers who want to take a few minutes to enjoy a snack or beverage from a before their flight. A host(ess) and experienced baristas make the stop one that is short, but very satisfying.

  1. ConnectionHub: Operational by mid-December 2016, this entry-level lounge will be open to all domestic travellers moving through departures - irrespective of card status or bank affiliation - looking to access high-speed Wi-Fi and power points so that those last few urgent tasks can be dealt with before boarding.

  1. LibraryLounge: Our premium LibraryLounge, open to Standard Bank Wealth and Investment, Signature Banking and Family Banking clients, blends quality food and hospitality with premium beverages. Guests will be able to relax and enjoy the highest levels of comfort, or even just find a gap to read a book or magazine (as the name suggests) as they wait for their flight.

According to Nontokozo Madonsela, Head of Marketing for Personal and Business Banking at Standard Bank, great care was taken to develop the airport lounges with different travellers and lifestyles in mind. The end result is that the airport is also a destination, rather than just a transit point. She further says that Standard Bank looks forward to receiving customers at the lounges.

Fantastic library lounge.

So pleased!

Nice one SB

Great idea SB but what about international travelers who usually are at the airport ahead of their flight times

Hi. Fantastic. When travelling I only carry my  standard bank master credit card. One lounge allowed me in with it. Other lounge wanted to actually see my personal banking card. I think attendant should be able to trace all our banking accounts from one card. Most travelers avoid carrying unnecessary cards. Also I think lounge should accept all travel companions with same surname. It doesnt make sense for some family members to benifit whilst other need to lounge elsewhere. Eg parents and grandchildren. However a fantastic service.

Thx for the Great little meal❣ My son loved it. Staff are friendly & so ready to help ☕ Such Welcome relief @ Domestic Departures OR Tambo International Airport

Are there shower facilities at the Library Lounge?

I'd like to provide some positive feedback regarding Korabo who assisted me at every turn within the OR Tambo airport Standard Bank Library Lounge on Thursday evening, 2nd November.

Not only did he provide me with exceptional service but wherever he was in the lounge, he'd constantly ask people if he could assist them in any way.  Nothing seemed too much of an effort and he did it all with a smile.

Kudo's to you Karabo and thank you for your superb service.

Super happy with your service, keep up the good work and pray you open more lounges across SA as well the international side. Great work, the service is wonderful !!!
