We’re seeking an iconic image that captures the passion, excitement and euphoria of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations Tournament of 2010. This is why we’re excited to announced a competition for professional accredited photographers to cover the event in Angola.

“As the sole African sponsor of AFCON, Standard Bank understands that football unites Africans, and would like to use this football showcase to further the cause of development in Africa by Africans themselves. As a result, we aim to nurture the talent of those who will be there to record the event for future generations of Africans to share in the beautiful game,” says Clement Motale, Director of Group Sponsorship at Standard Bank.

About the competition
The CAF/Standard Bank photographic competition is open to officially accredited African photographers covering the event in Angola between 10 and 31 January 2010. Entry forms and competition details will be provided to accredited photographers during the event.

The winning photographer will receive prize money of $10,000 (ten thousand US Dollars) and will be part of a multi-media African football exhibition to be held at the Standard Bank Gallery in Johannesburg in June 2010. In addition to the cash prize, the winner and a partner will receive two return economy flights to Johannesburg, from their country in Africa, two nights’ accommodation and airport and local transfers.

Entrants need to submit a photograph they have taken during the event, and which they feel best captures the tournament and Africa’s passion for football. The photograph must have been taken between 10 January and midnight on 31 January 2010. The judging panel comprises of a representative from CAF/Standard Bank Group Sponsorship Director: Mr. Clement Motale, Standard Bank Football Ambassador: Mr. Abedi Pele and an independent photographic expert.

Photographs should be submitted to [email protected]. All entries should be submitted by no later than 24:00 on 31 January, 2010.
