Standard Bank raises the bar for cricket developme...
South Africa’s future as a cricketing powerhouse lies with its youth. Standard Bank, the headline sponsor of the Proteas, has therefore launched a powerful new initiative to develop and nurture budding cricket stars of the future by sponsoring the rollout of Regional Performance Centres (RPC) countrywide.
The recent launch of an RPC in Soweto took the total number of these centres to 12 and together with the Cricket South Africa Hubs programme are proving instrumental in transforming the cricket landscape and changing lives by bringing through young talent from townships and rural areas.
Standard Bank is committed to supporting communities and nurturing the youth of our country. Sport is a key component of our over-arching development aims and by sponsoring the RPCs we hope to develop the immense cricketing talent we have in our country.
The objective of the RPC programme is to develop and maintain effective high performance programmes and cricket structures from grassroots right through to senior cricket. Young players on these programmes are given the high-level skills and coaching they need to succeed, while at the same time ensuring the Proteas will have a rich pool of talent from which to choose in the future.
Many youngsters from the RPC programme have already been selected for junior provincial sides and are receiving bursaries to develop further.
We want to build on this strong foundation and ensure that the long-term future of this wonderful game remains secure, with the talent pool provided ensuring the Proteas continue to shine as world beaters on the global stage.
