Short is selling and long is buying basically, but it is a term used mostly on derivative trading like futures and cfd's (some)because these instruments allow you to sell contracts (shares) that you don't own (going short)

Found on this site: "CFDs allow traders to take advantage of an expected fall in the price of an underlying instrument. This means that traders can profit when prices are going down, not just up. CFDs are thus an excellent trading and hedging tool".

practically... you need to enable CFD trading, and instead of buying a CFD you would Sell a CFD as the first transaction, and Buy the CFD as the second transaction... hope it makes sense.

Be careful....you will get "smoked" before you can load a stop loss if you don't know what you are doing! ...things can happen very fast
