4 simple ways to prevent losses on your car insurance

Your car is one of your most valuable assets, and having a good insurance policy puts your mind at ease as you drive. Every insurance policy has terms and conditions, and as a consumer, you need to make sure that you are not at any risk of losing your cover or not being able to claim.

Follow these tips to ensure that you stay safe and protected on the roads:

Make sure your vehicle is roadworthy

To prevent having your motor claim being negatively affected, please ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy, have your brakes, tyres and wheel alignment checked regularly. Also make sure that your windscreen and lights are free of cracks that may disrupt or impair your vision.

Only allow the nominated driver to drive your car

If you are the nominated driver on your policy and someone else drives the vehicle more frequently than you and was to have an accident, your claim could be affected.

Let your insurer know when you have changed your address

When you change your address, your risk profile also changes, and your insurer needs to update your information accordingly. This will ensure that you do not experience any difficulties when there is a need to claim.

Make sure that your tracking device works

In the event that your car gets stolen, the chances of recovery can be determined by the tracking device. If the tracking device isn't working properly, you might not get your car back, so always make sure that your device is in working order and your monthly payments are up to date.

Car insurance is necessary, and you must make sure that you read your policy and understand the terminology, terms and conditions, and any exclusion clauses.
