Our colleague Andee Deverell, who works with Standard Bank Group’s Strategic Issues Management team, has co-authored a book called “Health, illness and disability: Psychosocial approaches”. This book is targeted at university psychology student but is also a useful guide for anyone wanting to understand the psychological and social impacts of disease and disability.

Andee, who has been with Standard Bank Group since February 2007, says her work on the book is a result of her passion for health care and a fascination with disease. Her work at Standard Bank Group involves social and political research and analysis, which she says is fascinating and allows her to explore diverse areas of interest.

While she has conducted research on health and HIV/Aids on behalf of Standard Bank Group, the majority of her current work does not involve health care.

Writing this book was a mammoth task, she was thrilled to maintain her interest in health and stay abreast of new developments and research.
