Cultural exchange the Standard Bank way
Standard Bank Team
Super Contributor

Standard Bank Group draws from our heritage, which represents our humble beginnings from a small tent - our first office in Port Elizabeth - to the many branches we have across South Africa, across the African continent and globally.

As we celebrate 149 years of banking in South Africa we are proud to showcase the various cultural collaborations we’ve initiated over the years. One of our proudest annual events is the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival, which brings together international and local jazz artists, jazz lovers and music gurus from around the globe.

The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz takes place in August each year at the Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown and the surrounding hot spots, like the historical Bassline and other well-known venues.

In the years that Standard Bank has sponsored the Joy of Jazz festival, it has contributed to the cultural exchange between artists and many international performers have had the opportunity to meet their local counterparts and subsequently collaborate on various projects.

People of all races, ages and genders gather in Newtown for this much-anticipated annual event to be serenaded by the world’s musical giants. The one thing they have in common? A love of jazz.

For more information about Joy of Jazz and the role that it has played in unleashing musical talent that exists in South Africa and most importantly supporting the industry and the people that are part of it visit www.joyofjazz.co.za

Be sure to not miss next year’s joy of jazz festival as it promises to be a feast for the ears and souls of music lovers.
