Dubai business forum promotes Africa's growth

More than 1 000 influential people from across Africa and the Middle East met in Dubai this week to explore how they can work together to ensure that Africa becomes an engine of global growth. Standard Bank Group is an official partner to this two-day gathering called Africa Global Business Forum (AGBF).

This third forum is being held under the patronage of Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai.

Attending the conference are at least four heads of state, cabinet ministers, central bank governors, business leaders and international institutional investors. We will be represented by Group Chief Executive Sim Tshabalala and several other executives, including David Munro, Chief Executive, Corporate and Investment Banking and Rassem Zok, CEO, Middle East and North Africa.

Under the theme "New Drivers – New Partners", the forum will explore the drivers of the continent’s development over the next five years. It will look at the sources of growth, such as technology and pension funds; and discuss the impact of low commodity prices.

The objective of AGBF is to promote international revenue flows into Africa by engaging leading decision-makers. The forum provides a platform for serious business discussion and will address a myriad of current economic and business related issues. It will also focus on Africa-Gulf relations and how these relations could develop in the future.
