Gen 8 : The future of walk-in branches
Standard Bank Team
Super Contributor

While smart phones maybe the new way to do your banking, the value of one-on-one client interaction should not be underestimated.

To this end, we are proud to introduce Standard Bank’s new Gen 8 branches. Taking physical banking into the future, the Gen 8 branches are the right mix of customer relationships and innovation. They provide a new generation approach to banking providing integrated, smart, value-added experiences.

The Gen 8 design creates a warmer, more personal environment for our customers. You can expect a user-friendly floor design to help you decide on where to go and what you need. There will be staff at strategic points to monitor queues and attentively assist with client queries. Expect relaxed seating areas where you can take full advantage of wireless self-service banking facilities as well.

Ultimately the vision for the new branches is a design that looks, feels and behaves more like a premium retail store than a traditional bank.

The first Gen 8 branches are already operational at Woodlands Boulevard in Pretoria, Bedford Centre in Bedfordview and the Alice Lane branch in Sandton. Two more Gen 8 branches are due to be opened in Cape Town at the V&A Waterfront and Constantia Village. Another three will be opened by the end of this year, and Gen 8 roll-out will continue in 2014.
