HIV/Aids is everyone’s problems and we all need to work together to conquer this pandemic.
The third “HIV/Aids in the Workplace Research Conference” is underway in Midrand, South Africa. It is surprising just how many people feel that the responsibility for fighting the pandemic should rest in the hands of government.
South African Business Coalition on HIV/Aids has over the years been an advocate of bringing the private sector on board in the fight against HIV/Aids. It’s looking to this sector to participate and support the South African Government’s initiatives on HIV/Aids.
The conference highlights the opportunities for businesses to also play a role in establishing ways of resolving issues around reporting and measurement of HIV/Aids to ensure identification of gaps and the development of strategies that will make things happen.
Standard Bank Group is one of the founding members of the coalition and has been extensively involved in supporting the organisation in its advocacy of bringing the private sector on board in the fight against HIV/Aids.
In line with the coalition’s principles, Standard Bank Group advocates that HIV/Aids is not an issue that any individual business or Government can overcome alone, but rather by collaborating and entering into partnerships, far more can be achieved in the fight against HIV/Aids.
Our efforts in the field go beyond the borders of South Africa and have filtered into every country where we operate. The “HIV/Aids in the Workplace Research Conference” is taking place just weeks before World Aids Day on 1 December
