The  course started at Orient Beach, under light rainfall and had the athletes start their day with a 1.9 km ocean swim. It was then onto the 90.1 km cycle ride along the N2 between East London and King William’s Town. The final leg was a 21.1 km run which consists of two-loops with spectacular ocean views. The athletes crossed the finish line greeted by  music and cheers of support from 30 000 spectators.

The male winner Matt Trautman from Stellenbsch South Africa took his second glory by finishing his race at (04:01:52); and Jodie Swallow a British competitor based in South Africa, claimed her sixth victory in the female category completing her race this year at (04:23:28).

The second and third male runner-up was Kyle Buckingham at (04:09:10) and James Cunnama at (04:09:11) with only a second apart between these two highly competitive athletes.

Astrid Stienen was a tough competitor for the females finishing second at (04:42:00), and Annah Watkinson managed to keep her third position at (04:43:34).

We congratulate all the participants who finished the race and we admire the hard work and dedication that make you an IRONMAN  and IRONWOMAN.
