Jazz in Mauritius in May

Since 2006 the French Institute of Mauritius has brought together musicians from France and Mauritius for a working residency on jazz leading to a grand concert known as “Blues dan Jazz”.

Standard Bank partners again this year with l’Institut Français de Maurice (IFM) in the 11th “Blues dan Jazz” in Mauritius on 6 and 7 May.

Performances will see the collaboration of Jacky Terrasson with two Mauritian jazz geniuses Philippe Thomas and Kersley Pytambar. Adding to the pool of talent is South African talent Siya Makuzeni, a winner of the Standard Bank 2016 Young Artist Award for Music and Jazz, who will also perform.

Siya Makuzeni is a trombone player and vocalist, and stands out for her unique and pure voice. She has played in some of the biggest jazz events in the world: the International Jazz Festival in Cape Town, Stockholm, Paris and Vienna.
