It’s world Malaria Day on 25 April.
Malaria is a killer in Africa, where 91% of malaria deaths occur on the continent. Of these, 85% are children younger than five years. It is said that a child dies from malaria every 30 seconds.
As scary as these statistics are, Malaria can be prevented and cured.
Show your support and spread the word. United Against Malaria is an organization that is pulling together supporters to help meet the United Nations’ target of universal access to mosquito nets and malaria medicine in Africa by the end of 2010. The UN is taking the crucial first step to reaching the international MDG target of reducing malaria deaths to near zero by 2015.
