Making progress against malaria

Achieving Progress and Impact - this is the theme for World Malaria Day 2011. This will be the fourth year where 25 April has been marked and set aside to create awareness about an ancient disease and the devastating impact it has on the lives of more than 3-billion people – half of the human population.

Over 90% of all deaths related to malaria occur in Africa alone.

Show your support and spread the word. United Against Malaria is an organization that is pulling together supporters to help meet the United Nations’ target of universal access to mosquito nets and malaria medicine in Africa.

The UN is taking the crucial first step to reaching the international MDG target of reducing malaria deaths to near zero by 2015.

Support United Against Malaria by visiting www.unitedagainstmalaria.org.

You can also keep an eye on your local media for information on special World Malaria Day activities taking place near you on 25 April.
