Standard Bank Group has taken second place in EY’s 2014 Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards for companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Liberty Holdings, of which Standard Bank Group is a majority shareholder, came in 8th.
The awards were hosted by EY (
www.ey.com), an internationally recognised audit, tax and advisory firm, and are based on the evaluation of the top 100 JSE-listed companies. The awards recognise the “outstanding efforts of those companies that are the leaders in integrated reporting” to encourage the continued excellence in this field.
Special mention was made of these aspects of our 2013 integrated report:
- Excellent in demystifying a complex business with a useful explanation of how the group makes money
- High level of integration between the report’s various components
- Focused report with a balance between financial and non-financial information
- Easy-to-read because it was written in plain English
- A well-structured report with a clearly presented strategy with good reporting of progress made against the 2013 strategy and the group’s focus on moving forward
- Best financial director’s review of all reports reviewed with particular reference to the economic indicators and impact on key ratios
- Useful explanation of key accounting concepts that are relevant to understanding the financial statements.
