South Africa is a good place to be in 2010. According to Standard Bank economist Shireen Darmalingam, we are already starting to see a slight improvement in the country’s economy and employment rate.
Ok, so we’re still limping along after losing 423 000 jobs and we still need to find jobs for 550 000 people just to half the current poverty and unemployment rate – but the fact is, the fourth quarter of 2009 showed an improvement, and Standard Bank economists are expecting this upturn to continue in 2010.
So the good news? The improvement is expected to be slow, however 2010 is looking better.
