As we celebrate 149 years in banking we are reminded of our heritage and our involvement in heritage and art projects here in South Africa. We are happy to be pioneers of lots of great projects, which include a project that demonstrates our love for culture and arts.

This project is done through a nationwide search for the cream of the crop in terms of artists from different areas through our Standard Bank Young artist awards. Every year we choose the best from a variety of different disciplines, including drama, music, jazz, visual arts and dance.

For over 25 years we have paid homage to the country's finest artistic talents and served as a prestigious acknowledgement of artistic achievement. We have also given winners a platform to exhibit their work at the National Arts Festival.

Standard Bank also shows some of the most inspiring and moving exhibitions at our very own gallery, which is open to the public and holding at least four exhibitions a year. We encourage fellow art lovers to come share their views on some of the best art in the country.

To add to our artistic flare we also have two great collections we’re very proud of. These include pieces from influential artists as well as pieces that are uniquely African and are know as the African and Corporate collections.

We also have in interesting exhibition by our Young artist Michael Mcgarry that will be running from 26 October to 3 December this year. The exhibition entitled ”End game” is the final leg of a tour that began at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in June 2010.
