Standard Bank rallied behind Pink Day to raise Breast Cancer Awareness

Pink Day, the only day and time when you will see the Standard Bank Proteas men’s cricket team dressed in pink and play a Momentum One-Day International. The event took place this past Sunday, 10 February 2020. Not even the predictions of continued torrential downpours around Gauteng during the weekend could put a damper on the event. Fans, both young and old showed up dressed in pink to celebrate with family and friends the initiative of breast cancer awareness.

“It was once again an honour for us as Standard Bank to be associated with Pink Day as it has always been a fun-filled event over the years. Credit must also go to the Charlotte Maxeke Breast Care Unit and all the other units around the country for being central in the journey towards recovery”. Said Desiree Pooe, Head Standard Bank Sponsorship.

R1,3 million financial contribution pledges were raised for the event beneficiary, the Charlotte Maxeke Breast Care Clinic for continued breast cancer research. The clinic sees up to 350 women and provides a service to seven district hospitals to continue with newly diagnosed breast cancer every year.
