Get up at the crack of dawn (or earlier). Get yourself and the kids ready for school. Drop the kids off. Arrive at work and run straight into a meeting. Skip lunch because you have to pop past the dry cleaners to pick up your hubby’s suit. Work late as you chase that deadline. Leave to fetch the kids from school. Run into the shops to get something for dinner. Get home and start dinner. Help the kids with their art projects. Wash the dishes and put a load of washing on. Climb into bed and get ready to do it all again in six hours.

If you’re a busy career woman, then this is possibly what a day in your life looks like, or something pretty similar. Statistics SA indicates that women make up 44.6% of the country’s workforce... and that figure is growing.

This shows that “sisters are doing it for themselves” and with a thriving career comes a very busy lifestyle as women try to juggle work with family and a social life. It becomes even harder to find a few stolen moments for yourself, and this is why Standard Bank has introduced to South Africa a new credit card for women: MyCard.

This card is about catering to the needs of women – it’s about celebrating you and making it possible to spoil yourself every once in a while.

What do you consider a special moment to be? Is it boarding the plane as you head off to a romantic destination, is it that feeling of joy as you realise you fit into those jeans you couldn’t fit into last year? Or is it about living the comfortable and luxurious lifestyle you’ve always wanted?

Win up to R50 000
Life is made up of special moments both big and small. Tell us about your perfect special moment and you could win one of five weekly gift cards worth R500. The weekly competition is open until 12 November 2010 and you can enter by visiting

Apply for a MyCard credit card and if your application is successful, you stand in line to win the grand prize of R50 000!

Please note that this card and the competition is only available in South Africa.

Someone just phoned me from the bank and asked if I would like to upgrade my current Gold Credit Card to a MyCard. Is this wise? She said it is a upgrade, is it really?

When my credit card was due for renewal I was issued with a MyCard without any information or without me having signed anything or agreeing to the issuing of the card. Please would you let me know what benefits I get by having this card - it all seems to be verbal and having called in the bank requesting information, I was issue a brochure for Pricing 2012 Commerial Credit Cards!! I need to have on record the benefits (women's cancer was mentioned) etc. but I say all verbal.
