System downtime scheduled for Sunday, 12 November 2017

At Standard Bank, we’re continually investing in, enhancing and working to maintain our systems in order to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers.


For this reason, we’ve scheduled system downtime for midnight on Sunday 12 November until 4 a.m. on Monday 13 November. Though you’ll still be able to use your Standard Bank credit cards to make in-store or online purchases, the following services will be disrupted:


  • ATM transactions (including attempts on other bank ATMs, as transactions will not be able to be authorised)
  • All debit and cheque card transactions
  • Credit card cash withdrawals from Standard Bank and other bank ATMs
  • Mobile app, internet, telephone and cellphone banking services
  • Online share trading
  • Business Online
  • SnapScan
  • Instant Money
  • Shyft
  • There will be limited assistance available at Standard Bank call centres and our AlwaysOn Banking channel via WeChat
  • Cross border transactions and trading will also be problematic.


We know this service disruption will be inconvenient for you, but it is necessary to keep our system performing at its efficient best. To ensure your daily life isn’t too disrupted by the downtime, consider the following:


  • Make payments or do banking transactions via the banking app, internet and cellphone banking before midnight on Sunday, 12 November
  • Transfer any required money to relevant accounts in advance
  • Top up airtime and electricity before the weekend
  • Although customers and clients will still be able to use their credit cards to make in-store or online purchases, it’s worthwhile to consider using cash or other online payment mechanisms.
