The Standard Bank Graduate Global Induction 2015 ended on a soul fulfilling note. The Graduate Team joined forces with the Community Advancement Programme (CAP) Committee made up of legacy graduates for a grand finale Community Service Initiative (CSI) day. The CAP committee was founded by Standard Bank graduates with the objective of standing together and making a difference to communities and organisations in need.

Three initiatives ran in parallel on Friday the 6th of February 2015 at the Frederic Place Old Age Home, the Johannesburg SPCA and the Salvazione School in Johannesburg. The 150 graduates were split into three groups and travelled to one of the target destinations. Each graduate was able to work together as a team and make a significant difference to either a group of animals, children or retirees. The purpose of the day was to create awareness about those less fortunate, to remember to always remain humble, and to create an unforgettable experience for another living being.

At the Johannesburg SPCA the graduates were given an opportunity to decorate the kennels, help the staff organise their bookstore, deliver care packages, and feed the farm animals. The graduates embraced the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these wonderful animals and many of them had to resist all temptations of taking a fury friend home with them.

The retirees at Frederic Place got the opportunity to experience a full day of escapism. They were dazzled with live music performed by a legacy graduate, bopped along to a beatboxing show by one of the 2015 graduates, and of course enjoyed a good old game of Bingo. The residents were treated to a delicious high tea while engaging in conversations with the graduates about their love lives. One or two of the graduates even received a marriage proposal on the day!

The theme of the day at the Salvazione School was to spread joy with colour and sport. Each scholar got the opportunity to test their inner artist while painting their own T-Shirt and then show off their finished product on the sports field. The graduates struggled to keep up with the school kids during the outdoor activities and by the end of the day everyone was exhausted, and ready to hit the sack. The spirit between the graduates and the children was electric and something that neither group will forget for a while.

Candice (CAP President) summarised the sentiments of a successful CSI day; "At times, along our journey, it is easy to lose sight of our roots and to remain focused on our own success, but our purpose in life is not just about how we uplift ourselves, it is about how we up lift others with us along the way." We can't wait to see what this energetic group of graduates gets up to next.
