I also prefer using the Universal branch code like 051001, you can never go wrong.  Most big banks have a universal code.

The other one (025009) is the individual code for a specific branch and it also works.

SA Universal branch codes:
* Investec 580 105
* Nedbank 198 765
* SA Post Bank (Post Office) 460 005
* Standard Bank 051 001

What's the difference betweeb branch code and branch code (electronic payments)? I used the latter to complete my banking details at university so want to make sure I use the right one.
The branch code they gave me is 025009
And branch code(electronic payments) is 051001.

I used the 051001. Would it be okay?

Thanks
Regards
