I applied for a personal loan at Standard bank on Wednesday at the souhdale branch. Everything went well until they took my fingerprints. It did not match up with home affairs. I was told to get a hanis verification letter from home affairs. I have now found out that there is a marriage attached to my name and my surname has been changed without my knowledge. Home Affairs says they cannot give me the hanis letter because it shows the changed surname. Would it be possible to bring an affidavit to the bank so the loan application can proceed? The name change is under investigation at home affairs currently.
