If you want to link your PayPal to your bank account, you will need to register with FNB first, that is the only bank that allows PayPal transfers. Got this information from Google

Only cheque and credit cards can be linked by using the routine number 043000847.

HI THERE. I AM HAVING TROUBLE LINKING MY ACCOUNT TO PAYPAL.

PERHAPS PAYPAL HAS CHANGED SINCE THESE INSTRACTIONS WER LAST EDITED BUT THEY ARE NO LONGER RELEVANT WITH REGARDS TO THE SETUP ON THE APP AND DO NOT OFFER THE SAME OPTIONS OR WORDING.

Here's how to link a bank account to your PayPal account:

1. Click wallet at the top of the page. - HERE IS NO WALLET AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE ANY MORE.
2. Click Link a bank account. - THERE IS NO LINK A BANK ACCOUNT OPTION ANY LONGER
3. Follow the instructions on the page to add your bank account. - ARE THESE INSTRUCTIONS MEANT TO TAKE ME OUT OF THE APP AND TO A WEBSITE?

To link a bank on the app: 

1. Tap wallet.
2. Tap + across from "Banks and cards."
3. Tap Banks.
4. Follow the instructions to link your bank account. - IT ONLY GIVES ME THE OPTION TO LINK A U.S. ACCOUNT. BUT i OPENED MY PAYPAL APP HERE IN SOUTH AFRICA.

To link a bank on the business app: - WHICH BUSINESS APP IS THIS THAT YOU ARE REFERING TO?

1. Tap More.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Cards and Banks.
4. Tap Link a Card or Bank Account.
5. Tap Bank account.
6. Follow the instructions to link your bank account. - 

I NEVER SEEM TO BE GIVEN ANY OPTION TO LINK MY ACCOUNT FROM ANYWEHRE. (EXCEPT OF COURSE TO LINK A USA ACCOUNT) 

PLEASE ASSIST. THIS SHOULD SURELY BE LESS HASSLE THAN THIS.

STANDARD BANK HAS BEEN AROUND FOR SO LONG BUT ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE BEHIND WHEN IT COMES TO DIGITAL ADVANCEMENTS. IS THERE NOT A SIMPLER MORE USER FRIENDLY WAY TO SORT THIS OUT?

On the 15th June 2023 a lady at the Standard Bank call centre told me that Standard Bank and PayPal are involved in a number of disputes and this means that Standard Bank cards can not be linked to PayPal. It would be useful if Standard Bank could confirm this on this forum so as to stop wasting out time when we try and link our cards to PayPal.

I have tried to link again and after entering the routing number and account number I receive the below message to verify the bank.

We sent 2 small deposits (less than $0,50 USD each) that you'll receive in 3-5 days. They'll be removed in one withdrawal a few days later.

Log in to PayPal, select the bank account from your payment methods, and enter the 2 deposit amounts to confirm your bank.

These reported transactions have not shown up on my account after 2 days and the verification process failed. I have tried once more now.

Also the link that you provided takes me to a page that cant be found so might not be valid/active anymore.

I tried adding the bank using the routing number, but was not able to proceed with the follow up step of verifying the bank. Can you please advise if there are other steps required as I have not been able to find any.

I've been trying to link my Standard Bank Credit Card to my PayPal account for the past month and keep getting an error "YOU CARD WAS DECLINED BY ISSUING BANK".

I contacted PayPal and they advised it was an issue on the bank side.

I contacted Standard bank and no one can tell me why the card link is being declined

I have previously linked a Standard bank credit card, and it worked without issue. I've checked with friends that bank with other SA banks and they have had no issue linking their cards following the same process I did. Standard bank please can you investigate and feedback ASAP?
