The South African Krugerrand was first produced in 1967 by the South African Chamber of Mines. Over many decades this gold coin has become one of the most popular bullion coins chosen by investors. After its original productions and subsequent success, the Krugerrand galvanised many other gold mints to produce a bullion coin of equal standing. The Krugerrands are minted in 22 carat but contain one troy ounce of pure gold. Please note that the date pictured may not be the date you receive. Most of the Krugerrands were minted during the 1970's and the 1980's.
