Any prediction as to whether there could be an increase in "vat" rate?

An increase in VAT would hurt the poor most, as the indirect tax they pay as a percentage of their small disposable income is substantial,so I can't see it happening. An increase in VAT on luxury items that the wealthy and fraudsters spend their hard earned and easy earned cash on and would be easy to implement eg cars over R600000,etc,could be on the cards one day.

expect some modest tax relief for the lower end taxpayers , and tax increases for the higher ratepayers.
