I may be wrong, but logically I would think that if the offer at 100 was there first, the trade should go through at 101 to the advantage of the seller.

Although, as John said - I've seen a higher bid come into the market and just sit above the offer before being picked up by a market order - it will just reverse the spread.

You okes can talk a lot of *****! Reverse the spread, ha! If the buyer had his bid in first (@101) and a seller then offered (@100), the deal would go through at 101. If the seller was in first (@100) and then a buyer came in (@101) the deal would go through at 100.

If the local Pick n Pay offers an apple at R5-00 but you only want to pay R1-50 is there a deal? No. That's the spread.
Say you really REALLY want that apple, you end up paying R5-00, so the price of apples goes up.
Say nobody wants to buy apples at R5-00, and P&P eventually sells them at R1-50 before they get rotten, then the price drops.
Same thing - basic stuff.

Moral of the story... you gotta compare apples with apples. And ps... Spar are selling apples for R1.50 so your trade will match with a different broker.

if the seller is already in at 100c and the buyer arrives at 101c they trade at 100c as it was teh order in market first. If buyer is in firsdt at 101c and seller arrives at 100c trade is at 101c.
