Hi I am still quite new to the equity investment game. I am reading a book at the moment about equity investment and it got me thinking and I wanted to ask you guys the following: How do choose a shortlist of shares to invest in? What are your criteria? Once you have chosen your shortlist, how do you go about researching that share? Do you look at financial ratios and if so how do you do this? Excel spreadsheet, pump in the numbers from the results and work them out or use some kind of software? Thanks

I would suggest going to the fundamental trading course that OST offers and possibly the technical trading course as well - market isn't really following the fundamentals at the moment!

Johnny ! Wuzzup. The word you need to know is QUANTITATIVE EASING.It means Central Bankers Print.Right, that's the Macro Pic.More and more Printing coming = INFLATION.= wild stock markets. ##Micro Pic.Now all you do is get technical with your charts.Trendlines and Channels.Remember,Dude >> POSITION SIZING.It's a key concept.I hope you learn it quickly.##Shares and Shortlists ? Look for VOLUMES.You only need to know a few JSE Blue-chips and trade them. The rest of the shares are junk and/or high-risk.Also,think of trading GLD.Units or CFDs.Why ? Coz the GLD-thing only has 2 aspects to look at.$Gold and Rand/Dollar.Keep it simple.Best of.Make a Mill !
