CNBC breaking news 2 hrs before close was "last time dow closed below 10000 was Nov 09" when it was still 60/70 points above 10000, gotta laugh how media fuels the fear.

People like to hype up the round numbers, but dont see significance.....if dow closed at 9999 would that mean end of the world again.

It's significant *because* people hype up round numbers. So yeah, going below 10k would have a psychological effect on those who get affected by such things. Have enough of them in a market, and they move it.

As with everything in life balance needs to be achieved. returning to the 200 EMA is a natural "need" to assure us of the future direction. If tested and held then we move the 200 upwards slowly and run ahead to see what surprises await. Sometimes refered to as the mother/child syndrome. A young child full of hope but a wilful personality will "break away" from the safety of mom and her watch and go ahead, usually just enough to see ahead but not far enough to be out of moms eye. Over time the child develops more and more confidence streching that distance until the break is out of eithers line of sight. At this point usually an unfamiliar teritory is reached and the child becomes uncertain. Thus the need to return to familiarity to asses and decide if further exploration is needed or alternativiley a rest and recoup is required.

I 100% agree with the fact that psychological effects on those who get affected by such things, but surely this has to be a small % of participants, and will exclude institution or any big players, that can actually have an affect on price.
