Escom and our deposits,

When a landlord collects a deposit the money is suposed to be invested in an interest bearing account. When Escom collects our deposits which in most casea are R1000,00 plus, why are they not compelled to invest these monies into interest bearing accounts?Or have they already spend it?Must be worth billions in interest as most peoples deposits stay with them for decades?

Its another (in)elegant form of taxation. Expense it properly then you get some back from normal income tax.
