No, it's because practically every equities market in the world tumbled by over 2% yesterday and will probably continue today. Commodities prices and commodities shares were amongst the hardest hit.

There is no future in gold shares. When eskom increase is implemented, the share will even fall more. Gold shares is a bad buy, period.

Financials can make money by the method of compounding. Unfortunately gold doesn't do the same and as such gold shares will remain what they are..only tradable!

all the action takes place in the US - so the bulk of the trading volumes will kick in this evening at 4:30. With gold down, dow futures markets bridging 1000 and USD strengthening, I cannot imagine what is making local investors prop this thing up?

GFI came off a 52 week low yesterday. It is probably the SA miner with the most non-SA mine assets. It is a consensus BUY. If you're going to choose one mining stock this is surely a good choice, and possibly a good time?
