Gordhan nationalisation is not government policy

London - South Africa's finance minister Pravin Gordhan said on Thursday nationalisation of mines is not part of government policy and he does not expect any change of policy on this issue.

Gordhan also told Reuters Insider in an interview that South Africa currently is using reserve building and currency swap operations to control the rand which has surged almost 5% to the dollar this year.

Calls have been made in the country, especially by the powerful trade unions, to tame the currency via a capital inflows tax, but Gordhan said the finance ministry was studying other countries' experiences on this.

"We will study all pros and cons and evaluate," he said.

But will Pravin Gordham still be around when Julius Malema votes in the new policy makers in goverment? Is what the present goverment says or think relevant if they are not going to be around after the next "conference"?

Decapitating the Scorpions was also not goverment policy until Polokwane and where are they now? And remember that Pravin Gordham also said that the NHI was not SARS policy. There is goverment policy and there is ANC policy and the Queen only wants to know goverment policy. The next Finance Minister will tell her the present ANC policy.
