Just picked up that PNP will open with voluntary staff on Sunday and donate all profits to charity in honour of Mr. Mandela. Now that is a moral high ground. Well done.

According to Wikipedia, morality (from the Latin moralitas "manner, character, proper behavior") is the differentiation of intentions, decisions, and actions between those that are "good" (or right) and those that are "bad" (or wrong). A moral code is a system of morality (according to a particular philosophy, religion, culture, etc.) and a moral is any one practice or teaching within a moral code. From a religious perspective, morality is the determination of what should be done and what should not be done. Biblically, absolute morals are derived from God's character and revealed to us through the Scriptures. But morals also differ among cultures and some are relative, i.e. dependent upon situations and context. For example, people drive on different sides of the street in different countries. Bowing is morally acceptable in one culture and kissing the cheek is in another. But then there are other morals which are universally true. For example, it is morally wrong to murder. So, whether or not to trade on the day of the funeral is at best an individual choice and certainly no moral decision.

Predictable replies. Sad. I have conducted a straw poll around town here and of the 10 or so people I asked the question of all indicated enthusiastic support for the idea - which included PnP staff. No support for the hat doffing of the others. So whether it turns out to be R100 000 OR R10.00 ..? ( and you can decide as to who will benefit the most - those who receive or those who give of their time for the day?)
