Don't think Hedberg contributed much to Altech. He does not seem to be the kind of chap who will roll up his sleeves and get into the trenches with his troops i.a.w he did not fit into Altech's style. Something you would have thought the board would have checked out before appointing. Nonetheles, price will recover once East Africa starts making a decent return on the investment there.

It is a disaster, IMO. Altech needed a visionary in their stable. A Koos Becker or a Hedberg. Someone who understands that the world of telecomunications and multimedia is converging, and that you have to be creative to make money off low margin industries. Someone who knows how to measure the risk and reward in a large scale operation. They have operations like Autpage and Netstar, that are on the decline, and that have 1.5m customers which they don't know what to do with. He is also the one guy that could perhaps have turned around their East Africa strategy, which is absolutely core to Altech's growth. East Africa is imploding on Altech, and they are going to have to right it off one of these days. The only speculative play left in Altech's books is UEC, which has been trying for years to make money. UEC is sitting on the tip of the proverbial iceberg, if government's DTB initiave gets off the ground AND if UEC can position itself as a local settop box supplier (which it should be able to do).
