Help Please. CFD Question

I'm very new to CFD trading, and the following question/senario came up: Lets say you buy 1000 XYZcfd (LONG), and you want to close your posision with a SHORT do you 1. SELL 1000 to close your LONG posision, and then SELL another 1000 in a new SHORT trade or 2. can you SELL 2000 which will close your LONG and leaves you SHORT? Thanks.

you could just sell 2000 and then be short 1000 ..
