High Brokerage fees

Hi Simon, I was speaking to a friend of mine and he tells me we are getting ripped off in South Africa with your high brokerage fees. He mentioned that in the US, you generally pay a set amount, like $7 and you can trade up to any volume or value of shares at a fixed price? I'll verify for myself. Are you guys ripping us poor traders off??

lol... you correct, i have an american brokerage account, and its fixed for any value traded... but SA is different, i would say there are many (i mean MANY) more investors/traders in USA and here in SA i guess the volumes of investors/traders are much lower so to make an acceptable income one will have to do what the SA firms do... As a SBK shareholder i am not complaining!

Thanks Werner, but I think that as SBK is a public company and if my friend is correct, Simon should tell us how much profit On line share trading made last year. I do not mind paying fees, but me thinks that the banks get greedy...

Standard 0.6% - ABSA 0.4% Brokerage!

But ABSA charges R120 minimum brokerage so depends on size of position.

Suggestion - buy some SBK shares and climb on their band wagon...

I hardly call today "down, down, down" after the 45% up over 12 months. Long term its an excellent company.
