How do day traders starve off boredom ?

It must be terribly boring to day trade, doing the same thing over and over and over. (Low quality of life) Salaried woodbe traders dream of becoming day traders. What do day traders dream of becoming, excluding rich off course ?

I imagine that many traders dont have mechanical systems and are prepared to take a risk or three, I imagine it must be quite exciting. Maybe a bit like being at the casino, and thinking you know how to beat the system. I can imagine there are various sweaty palms out there...better than being a boom-gate operator at least!

I suspect the guys taking the risks form mostly part of the 90% that don't make it in day trading over the longer term. I think it really needs to be mechanically boring in order to work.

Unfortunately you need that to tip the odds in your favour over the longer term

Agreed - but the level of boredom then depends on which class of trader you are. Investing is reasonably boring as well. Imagine you did that for a job! Which begs the question - what is the most boring job you can think of?

I personaly do not think it is boring, If you really love what you do it can never ever become boring (I really love what I do...Day Trading & Swing Trading is the best thing ever for me). What I dream of is owning a Container/Cargo Ship (one of those "Big Whites" that Safmarine owns).Would be so nice to simply get on board whenever you like and take a trip to wherever it is that the Cargo is destined for (Far East / Europe etc) - That's my ultimate dream...

The most boring job MUST be a tollgate operator/cashier ! I mean how many time do they repeat "hallo" "good morning" "how are you" , you must be brain dead for that job. LOL

Once you master day trading and understand the limitless opportunities you have every day, you can trade maybe three days only and take the rest of the week off....once you trade for the day, then you must take all the opportunities.....if you get a good entry early in the day and move to breakeven or profit , then take the rest of the day off.....it is not easy and requires many hours of trading, before you reach that level....with the tablet and smartphone tech, you tied to your desk, you can monitor your position on the move....with my system, I need just a glance at the chart to see a trade or close a position.....and as Simon put it, if its boring , you making money

Kwagga, not really. My strategy is to enter at least one share using SSF. Once i make abt R15000, i sell. I then buy and take delivery of one Krugercoin which is for my daughter. This strategy keeps me very focused. (Preston)

It probably depends on your system and how actively you trade or not. I started an online business thats really exciting that does not require any fixed hours of operation and also allows you to create passive income and interact with people. www.andreros.gosmartmedia.com have a look if you are interested in alternative income streams. This will probably balance the boredom of daytrading for some people and also allow you to generate additional income that will allow you to effectively compound your trading returns by not requiring you to draw from your account.

I've did the Satrix 40 route for my son. Seems a little less radical than gold.

Simon, your system suits your lifestyle. I feel you live a perfectly balanced life. Trading on the sideline, educating and being a presenter on summit tv.
