Please can you explain some more, who is aware of the auction going on and who is in the auction? How does the auction affect the price? If the price moves up more than 5%, does the auction drive the price down again? If the price moves down more than 5%, does the auction drive the price up again?

anybody can partake by placing buy/sell orders. As for what happens to the price, well anything.

simon in the auction who tries to match the prices or is it blind with ppl putting in varios prices til they matched? is there no control?

well you can see what's already in the market and you place your bids/offers accordingly. At the end of the auction the price at which the largest volume will transact is the price at which it'll trade.

so if i take the lowest price of the day & put in my offer atslightly lower but the volume of say 10million i should have my order matched if there is so many shares in sell orders

if the buyers are at your price, yes. But you may not get all 10million, there are other traders.
