Lower food prices

Not applicable
Have just heard on etv (15 Dec 2008) that lower food prices might be on the cards. That means probably lower inflation which helps to lower interest rates which means banks like Standard, Absa, etc could do well for next few months as they lend more money and have less bad debt when interest rates are significantly lower.

Lower food prices is also a sign of deflation setting in which simply means that there is less demand... = more unemployment = more bad debt... mmm, not so sure about buying them banks just yet.

food prices are less about demand more about supply, when it goes up prices go down.
