Yahoo was trading at something like $18 before the hostile takeover proposition from Microsoft. Then it jumped to $29 on the back of that news. Since they rejected the offer, wouldn't that imply that the price had to come down as well?

well no, the Yahoo board rejected the offer, but the stock owners are the ones who actually get to decide whent hey vote. Then of course it is really up to the US and EU regulatory peoples.
