Extemely sad. End of an Era (Victor, John Smith, etc).Boks played extremely well. They had plenty of opportunities, but lady luck was not on their side.

- Our forwards are usually pretty good at possession and control, but our back line never seem able to finish the job and score tries. With all that possession and territory, you'd expect more points on the board.

Too much experience, too little young initiative. Lambie performed excellent - and by the way, that pass was NOT forward; once given the chance, Hougaardt's presence was immeasurable because everybody else was tired. Piere Spies is a has been, together with Morne Steyn, Habana and the like. You ALWAYS start with the best you've got, else the imbalances show later on in the game. We look forward to 2015.

Not so sure about lady luck not on their sides - what about that early penalty that they kicked at the side lines. Surely they must kick for posts?

agreed .. 3 mistakes, that was one .. Burger running from his 5 yard line that lead to the AUS try was another and then the pull down in the line out ..

Also agreed on Burger running, putting his head down as he always does, regardless of where he is on the field. Surely at this level they must know what to do and what not to do, especially with all the "experience" they have.

Yesterday I felt as I felt back in 1999 when Aus beat us in the Cricket World Cup and AD's run out. End of era for many. Pierre Spies must go to the wing. Not hard enough as a loosie. No guts and not prepared to use that massive frame of his.

and our cricket side was never the same . I felt that way when Cronje was expelled from cricket. Cronje was the "best captain" ever to grace the field.

Well we won everywhere on the field except on the scoreboard. As PVD once said....

U have the 2nd and 3rd ranked team in the world playing a quaterfinal, yet you appoint a half baked referee to officiate the match. Bryce in past, always saw things in the favour of the other team. Poc***** should have been yellow carded in the first 5 minutes, however the ref allowed him to rewrite the rules at all the rucks. Its pathetic

Our players are too old, the way to broke down the Aus defence was to speed up the game, instead we gave them enough time to recover their defensive lines everytime. If this was 2007 the same team would have won. We simply played the game too slow. We had all the experience to keep possession of the ball but was to slow to force their defences out of line. The youngsters tackeled the old ballies the whole day long.

Burger running or driving up from the 5metre line was or is a standard set play move that all teams do, to give their flyhalf a better angle for the touch kick. We see this move all the time in the Currie Cup, Super rugby and Tri Nations. What he possibly did wrong was to run at a slightly skew angle thus creating the opportunity for a turnover. Pockock was marking that channel and Burger needed to stay tighter, to allow for Spies to support him. So a move badly executed, but not nescessarily an incorrect move. Maybe we should have just played the % better and kicked directly.
