ya an I have no clue, haven't followed GND in years .. if I recall there was, about 0.6% back in the pre crisis days .. hence the massive run it had ..

what we do know is that Baltic dry is one of few indexes which is devoid of speculation as only few are able to participate in it so it is a pretty good measure of actual activity. The question is if it leads by how much....its has dropped more than 75% over the past two years so maybe GND will ride the wave from the lows?....but if it lags then there is a hell of a way to go for GND on downside.

kwagga on 15 Aug 12:27 This share follows the Baltic Dry Index. If the index turns up, so will GND. If it doesn't GND won't either, so look for a turn on the index. Calling a bottom on this one will constitute a hunch at best, expect if the fundamentals tell you a different story. ...and fundamentals dont tell a good story....

by Rams on 16 Aug 09:52 Barry, what do you see in the fundamentals that makes you want to buy for long term? by Rams on 16 Aug 11:16 steady decline in profitabilty, and an entrenched downtrend on technicals... by barry on 16 Aug 11:17 Hi,income received from 81% trading,10%shipping,8%freight,-1%banking....their tie up with the largest coal company in the world in Sub Saharan Africa Vitol 65%/GND35% and REM gives me confidence that they will succeed. by Rams on 16 Aug 11:31 would it not be better to just buy coal then? I dont agree with the forecasts, especially looking at their results...lets see what the results are next week Thanks for your great advice rams. Next time someones posts their opinion, dont ask who, when, why, what. Its their opinion and they're entitled to it. You do the same thing in every thread.

Barry please feel free to post whatever you want. If Rams has a problem with it we'll refer him to a shrink in his area. He cant make every user not want to post their opinions with his ongoing questions. who, what, where, when, why.

Barry dont worry about Rams he is waiting for MTN at R100 SOL at R300 and BIL at R200. He has a "price bias". Your calls are normally spot on. I'm looking at TAS and I see its sitting right at support on the weekly chart. I normally dont like stocks trading below R5, what's your take.

GND shipping contribution is basically 0 these days, so in theory there should be no correlation at all. GND business model is to forward sell their fleet so this does not expose them to too much spot rate exposure, and they are unlikely to make a loss on shipping, it is just that they make basically no margin. You are basically getting shipping for free here - and you are buying GND now on the strength of its other businesses.

The last time MTN was at 120ish the ALSI was circa 30400, BIL 220ish the ALSI was circa 29100, SOL 320ish ALSI circa 29000. Ave for ALSI about 29500. Close to 78% retracement to 7 july. You may need a long way for the ALSI to drop before you get a price alert

Wow, what a move. The strength of it caught me by surprise on good volume as well. Good call Barry. I did however note that for the 3 days prior to results this share moved from R13 to R13.60. Insider trading perhaps, leak of info or just pure specualtion? I tend to lean towards the former. Your thoughts on this?

could be either, certainy as Barry proved many expected the numbers .. so why do you lean to insider/leaked info ??

Thanks, although i feel TASTE has done nothing wrong, they might be involved in messy litigation on the take-over of the fish company.best to hold off buying again till this issue is settled, next year.

It seems I overlooked the post. The horse has unfortunately bolted so will have wait for pullback or re-assess.
