Predicting a down or up

I was just wondering which website I can visit that can give me an overview of how the overseas markets performed. I know that their performance definitely has an impact on whether our JSE opens in the green or in the red. For example, this morning I looked at CNNMoney.com and saw that the S&P, NASDAQ and DOW were down, but our JSE still opened in the green...Why?

Bllomberg.com. Look at futures prices. Not entirely reliable but a good indication.

http://www.moneyweb.co.za/mw/view/mw/en/page296405 This site just gives a basic summary of where the green is. I find the Aussies a better indicator though...

www.cnbc.com is very nice. can look at all markets, US, Europe, Asia, then you can get futures, etc. just browse the menues on top to get a grip of the functions.

I like http://www.marketwatch.com/. Shows main indexes. Also shows US Futures on main screen a few hours before open.

Guys dont look at the futrures prices look at the dow close. the Ftures can often refect red because they start the from zero at 10.30pm after the DOW has closed..so it can be that the dow closed 400 higher than our close, but since then they have pulled back 100 points on the futures will be in the red..but we open higher.. Hope that helps. and in truth it matters not because there is nothing you can do until the market opens then its either up or its down!

If you've got MS Vista\Windows 7 you can load a Yahoo finance widget on your desktop. It's real time. I look at S&P500, NASDAQ, FTSE100, Gold/$, Crude oil, Euro/USD, USD/ZAR and EUR/ZAR. It's very handy and it hardly uses any bandwith. Find all the share, indexes, and currency symbols on Yahoo bob is your uncle!!
