By trusting a publication, you take the away responsibility. Try to develop your own method of valueing a share. This will certainly be influenced by your own personal situation. Then maybe look at a few sectors and pick a couple of shares from each that you think you may like to own. Then do a heap of research on them before you buy or not. Read the Financial Mail, check out the Tickertalk forum, read the Moneyweb web site and read Franco Busetti's The Effective Investor. Always listen to the V.O.R. Simon PB. And then read some more....

I hope that is not your seq number,if so ask Standrd to change it....This week I started a specialist watch list of shares on my sashare blog, I have read about or heard about. The point being there is something about all of these shares that makes them interesting. There after its up to the user to do his own research. For starters ,use Standards Company Profile for research. Also learn to use the charts....Its imperitive to start your own watchlits/remember to inclide a tracker section as then you can see if your choices have made profits or losses ,with out having a single cent invested.Stay away from warrants and derivitives till lyou know more.Good luck.

Subscribe to Sanlam Itrade for research only. Costs about R200 pa and you will get research reports and access to their website.Make sure you are getting the Daily Standard from OST. Excellent research material on a regular basis.

Not as frequent as Standard.Prob 1 report a week. But at the price it is a useful addition.Fairly in depth.
