What is the correlation between Sol(JSE) & Sasol(NYSE). Sasol closed @ about R306.00 yesterday on the NYSE, why so much lower on the JSE?

Only correlation is its the same company!! other than that, nada...dont try read the two markets as a single company and draw conclusions. I tried for a long time and found out the two listings operate under vastly different market conditions. Choose which one you are tracking/investing/trading and stick to it.

Directly related by the R/$. During times that both JSE and NYSE are trading at the same instant, this can be easily confirmed by calculating each other's current price via R/$

Check it out during our time 16h00 to 17h00 when SOL and SSL is trading simultaneously. You can see an active page for SSL on http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=SSL which you can run alongside OST. Depends however on the daylight savings cycle which which is not favourable right now.
