Ya, and that's why any value investor should have stops. Louis, just look at JDG - a 'value' company in the top40 with a price of about 120 a year ago. Trading at 29 today. Sh*t happens even to 'value' companies.

to add fuel to the fire there are only 22 companies in the current top40 that were there in 1995. thats 18 copmpanies in 12 years that have changed or been displaced.

Well, there is bears within the bulls though. With a lot of good buying opportunities (yes based on Graham and Buffet) out there. John as per your request: (I'm in the consulting engineers field, dealing specifically with coal mining companies, been trading for just under a year now).

who knows?.Its called the surviorship bias we omly seem to keep a record of the winners. I have data of the current top 40 going back to 1995 when you look at the list there are only 22 with data going back that far, IE OML, TKG not yet listed MTM was a concept. BIL was called somthing else, MONDI EXX KIO were all part of anglos's DeBeers would have been one now delisted.
