Aspen declared dividends on the 13/09/2011. Does that account for the strong surge in the price or was this already priced in? What effect does the declaration of dividends "normally" do to the share price? Thanks

that is a bit of a how long is a piece of string question. It is all a question of what the market was expecting, vs what the company announced. The dividend will be a function of APN's overall performance, on its own, it is not a big driver, unless APN is changing its dividend policy, in which case it will force most investment houses to change their evaluation criteria
