I see you can issue warrants on your own shares, but no installments - why not?

Simple.. Answer from the company Act. A company cannot render financial assistance to anyone to purchase its own share . I think it is Sec 281 of Company Act.

Thanks for you collective superior knowledge of the financial and legal issues. But surely the same applies to a warrant, in that the holder can buy the shares at any time before expiry??

CrownA I am not aware of the dynamic working involves in warrant and as such i am unable to comment however i stand corrected in saying, that trading installment is defined as trading equities (share capital) whilst trading warrant could possible be viewed as an "options".
